The D-M38 is the latest incarnation of the extremely popular micro system range from Denon. Taking over from the D-M37DAB, the new D-M38 carries forward many of the features of its predecessor while still adding and building on the quality that made the original so popular.
The range of new features include the digitally transmitted play function for iPod and iPhone (via USB) for fantastic sound quality, the latest DAB+ format, an easy timer setting and a new easy-to-use remote control handset. If you want to listen to music files from your iPod then you can simply connect it to the RCD-M38's USB port with the USB cable that came with the iPod. If you plug an iPod into the RCD-M38's USB port while you're listening to the radio, for instance, music from the iPod will immediately start to play. Or if you just came home after listening to your iPod while you were out, the same track will continue to play when you plug the iPod into the RCD-M38. The digital signals from the iPod are transmitted as is to the RCD-M38 where they pass through the high-precision D/A converter and are processed by advanced audio circuitry to produce a clean, high-quality sound. The iPod or iPhone battery is even charged while the RCD-M38 is switched on, so all this helps make the RCD-M38 a truly iPod friendly unit.
The DAB+ is especially impressive and allows for more robust reception quality, DAB+ is all set to become the norm for all DAB broadcasts in the future.
Other than these great new functions, the D-M38DAB has continued Denon's legacy of great sounding micro systems. Its 30W x 2 amplification and UK sound tuning gives a very pleasing smooth, dramatic sound for such a small unit.
With its excellent design, first class build quality and fantastic audio performance, the Denon DM38 DAB is a first rate micro system and a worthy update to the award winning range.
