Rega Planar 2 Turntable
The Planar 2 features a new arm with the designation RB220 - This arm features the latest Rega designed "zero play" ball bearing assembly with ultra-low friction performance (Patent Pending). New automatic bias assembly, re-designed stiffer vertical bearing housing, integrated arm clip, and their custom arm tube.
The plinth is a high gloss acrylic laminated design to make it as stiff as possible with a vastly improved appearance and an ergonomically positioned power switch. There were two plinth finishes initially - Gloss black/ white and red.
A new 24v low noise, low vibration motor assembly is employed along with a freshly designed bearing housing to offer an improved fit and greater rigidity whilst reducing internal stresses. This has also been designed to remove potential energy problems from the plinth.
A new 10mm thick "Float Glass" Platter sits atop the new bearing and the Rega Carbon cartridge is standard fitment. The entire deck is suspended on a new design of feet to reduce unwanted vibration to a minimum.
