Linn Selekt DSM Classic Hub Streamer
Linn DSM is the most configurable streamer ever!
Operation of the player is largely via a top mounted cut-glass dial equipped with 100 individual LEDs. The dial glows when it senses your approach and turns with an ultra smooth level of precision in response to a touch. This control in addition to acting as a volume control will start and stop a stream, cycle through a play queue or list of radio stations, and switch to other connected sources using tilt and press movements.
Linn have added a row of smart buttons that can be assigned to activate a source, internet radio station, playlist, genre or artist from an online service or your own local music collection. The rather useful interface is designed to provide simple access to music without the need for an app.
Selekt DSM streams a vast array of digital sources including FLAC, Apple Lossless, WAV, DSD(64/128), MP3, WMA(not lossless), AIFF, AAC, & OGG over a standard network and integrates with Tidal, Qobuz and Spotify Connect music services. It also plays internet radio and is compatible with Roon.
Connectivity runs to a range of digital inputs including toslink optical (x2), SPDIF coax (x2), HDMI ARC, USB, and Ethernet, all supporting sample rates of up to 192kHz. Analogue sources are not overlooked with one line-level RCA input and two phono inputs accommodating MM and MC pickups.
Selekt DSM comes with two Exakt Link ports to allow connection to Exakt speakers, Exaktboxes, or Urika II.
There is also the option to upgrade the onboard DAC to Linn’s Katalyst architecture with improved data optimisation and master clock, independent power supplies, ultra-low distortion output driver and high-stability input reference level. Selekt DSM also features the new and improved version of Linn’s Space Optimisation DSP technology that models a customer’s listening space and loudspeakers in even greater detail, increasing the accuracy of the bass correction applied.
If you add the built in low distortion 50w/channel amplifier option then Selekt DSM becomes a stunning single box Hi-Fi system requiring only speakers to complete, however the pre-amplifier output is then removed. Surround sound options also exist as well.
